Manager - Area Services

Location: REMOTE - Albany, NY (The manager covers customers and technicians in the areas below, doesn't have to be in Albany, NY and can work remotely but will need to travel to visit customers in these areas when needed.}

  • Position can also be based out of Upstate NY, (Syracuse, Binghamton), Rochester, Buffalo, Mid-Hudson, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire.

Manages/ensures the completion of installations for a large customer/technical support base in a large geographical area. Meets with customer management to answer questions, resolve problems. Analyzes/reviews month-end reports to determine productivity and profitability. Interfaces with Sales/Engineering to obtain information/resolve problems as needed. Works under general direction.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manages the activities of representation and non-represented installation/field service staff in the completion of installations, MAC’s and/or service repairs to PBX/peripheral equipment at customer sites in a large geographic area.
  • Ensures timely/effective equipment installation/service/repair time, customer relations and installation/service/repair administration.
  • Meets with customer management as required to provide information on installation, project goals, timetables, parameters, resolves problems, answers questions, etc.
  • Analyzes/reviews month-end reports to determine productivity and profitability of installation, customer service and material control departments. Examines trends and provides recommendations for improvements.
  • Interfaces with Sales/Engineering management to discuss and finalize pricing information and/or resolve equipment installation/operating problems.
  • Ensures completed installations and MAC’s adhere to customer/BCSE requirements/specifications and established contractual obligations. Approves installations and MAC’s and informs Director, Sales, Contract Administration management/staff of project completion.
  • Evaluates/analyzes staff training/education requirements. Develops methods/procedures to train/educate staff to meet department standards, customer satisfaction and task prioritization techniques.
  • Manages material control department activities. Ensures the conduct of periodic physical inventories, the reconciliation with recorded levels and/or contacts Purchasing management/staff to obtain/expedite the delivery of additional/needed parts.
  • Prepares departmental policies/procedures for the Director’s review/approval. Implements approves policies and procedures as directed.
  • Provides input/recommendation to the development of the departmental budget, monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgetary constraints, and reports on variances.
  • Ensures the accurate maintenance of all departmental files, records, database information and equipment.
  • Ensures the preparation of regular/ad hoc reports/analyses to keep the Director informed of project status, problems, etc.
  • Performs all duties inherent in a managerial role. Ensures appropriate staff training, evaluates staff performance and provides line management approval for hiring, terminations, promotions and salary actions.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Manage and monitor monthly/quarterly revenue forecasts to actual and ensure proper revenue recognition guidelines are adhered to.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of eight years telecommunications equipment installation/service/customer services experience, with at least three years in a lead or supervisory role required. A strong knowledge of PBX/peripheral equipment features, functions, specifications, operations, interfac
  • Certifications, Licenses, etc: N/A

Specialized Knowledge and Skills -

  • Language Skills: Ability to read/write English, verbal communication a must. Effective and excellent verbal and written business communication skills and leadership as a manager skills are required
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic Math
  • Reasoning Skills: Detail oriented. Excellent team work skills and customer service skills
  • Computer and/or Technical Skills: MS Office, e-mail and PC etc.
