Summary -

Manages activities for NEC customer engagements and projects in newly established Hawaii operations. Plans, directs, coordinates, and follows up all activities with various departments, contract manufacturers, suppliers, and customers. Ensures that goals or objectives of the projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.  Identifies new business opportunities in parallel and subsequently engages appropriate colleagues to follow up.  Limited office management responsibilities consisting of directing support vendors (e.g. coffee suppliers, building management, etc) as Hawaii operations are established and grown.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

  • Interfaces and manages multiple projects and associated subcontractors, key suppliers, and services partners.


  • Negotiates and sets contracts terms with both customers and suppliers to establish efficient day-to-day operations.


  • Maintains, promotes and nurtures customers and key supplier relationships.


  • Strong hands-on project management skills, demonstrates excellence in leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.


  • Reviews project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of each assigned project.


  • Creates, updates (daily or as assigned), publishes and manages status reports for assigned contracts.


  • Calls and chairs status meetings, assigns action items, and publishes meeting minutes as necessary (timing to coincide with regularity of the meetings).



  • Assists engineering as needed with purchase specifications.


  • Coordinates and reviews initial product purchases to ensure adherence to provided specifications.


  • Attends ancillary meetings with development, marketing, finance, and purchasing to facilitate new products and changes to current product.


  • Supports conference calls scheduled outside of normal business hours, as necessary, to accommodate partners, suppliers, and customers in other time zones.


  • Provides technical support to Customer Service and Operations departments, as required.


  • Coordinates multiple projects simultaneously.


  • Makes recommendations to improve processes.


  • Handles, communicates and escalates problems through appropriate channels, as necessary.


  • Proactively identifies business development opportunities and manages activities to meet and/ or exceed assigned goals.


  • Provides limited office management / coordination support to ensure support operations are established and managed proactively.


  • Identifies opportunities for NEC to engage with the local community in the areas of community service and outreach.


Prerequisites -


BE, BS or BA (or equivalent) is preferred within a technical or business field.


Minimum 5 years leading all phases of a business solution delivery life cycle:  planning, analysis, design, build, test, and deployment.  6+ years of experience defining and implementing program/project management structures (PMO), processes, and tools and expertise

Certifications, Licenses, etc:

PMP Preferred
