Summary -
NEC Corporation of America is seeking a full-time Senior Communications Specialist who is looking for a challenging role supporting growth initiatives as well as broader communications for a leading provider of solutions that improve the way people work and communicate. The Senior Communications Specialist  will be responsible for designing, preparing, and disseminating communications to a range of internal and external audiences in support of business objectives (e.g., change management, internal announcements, news releases, community outreach, product announcements, etc.). While collaborating with teammates, stakeholders and clients, the Senior Communications Specialist will work closely with senior leadership to support business objectives, organizational goals, brand and product awareness and internal messages. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communications skills and four to six years of experience in a broad range of written, visual and digital communication tools and techniques in a corporate setting. 

  • Develop communication plans to determine the right content and engagement strategy for both internal and external audiences.
  • Social media content creation and analytics for multiple business units.
  • Manage relationships and respond to communication support requests from employees, executives and global counterparts. 
  • Ensure brand guidelines are maintained for corporate messaging, talking points, and blogs. 
  • Plan and execute community outreach activities and employee appreciation events. 

 

Prerequisites -
Education: Bachelors’ degree in communications, journalism, English or related field.
Basic Qualifications: 4 - 6  years of experience in corporate or agency communications, preferably writing for internal and external audiences. An ability to bring together a variety of stakeholders and manage differing opinions to reach a consensus is important.
Preferred Qualifications: Local to Irving, Texas with experience working in a large, global organization with a diverse employee and customer population. Executive and C-suite level communication management and strategy execution support experience. 
     

Specialized Knowledge and Skills -

  • Excellent communications skills, including proficiency in writing and editing for business publications and digital communications, and ability to create and adapt content for use across multiple internal/external channels.
  • Media management experience including pitching article ideas and ability to show documented success.
  • Ability to establish excellent networking relationships, and teamwork, and be a facilitator with influencing skills to support the successful delivery of client communications.
  • Demonstrated project management skills to implement special events (news conferences, employee town halls, trade shows, executive support, etc.).
  • Experience with the use of multiple social media platforms and other tools for online engagement, as well as measuring and reporting effectiveness.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours periodically.
  • Excellent MS PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Word skills.
  • Knowledge of AP Style.
  • Multimedia production, development and storyboarding for podcasts, videos, photography, etc.    

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands - 
General Work Environment: Remote environment – office collaboration as needed. 
Travel: Limited travel.

Supervisory Responsibility, if any: No supervisory responsibilities.
