Summary -

This position focuses on a self-managed IT professional with a strong background in implementing and administrating Microsoft based technology, its fundamentals, and concepts within a Local Area Network. This includes systems configuration support, execution of tasks, implementation of new processes and ongoing support of the lab systems and sub-systems. This individual works closely with Development, Quality Assurance and Project Managers and is responsible for supporting the full implementation of all applications in Development and QA test environments and installing and troubleshooting software packages. In support of the mission to satisfy all Customers’ requests, this position is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of all IT deliverables through a process of installation, testing and evaluation of IT initiatives and issues.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

  • Perform initial and on-going Retail Information System Configuration

  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware configuration issues utilizing Service Desk software to track ongoing request status and resolution of issues.

  • Maintain overall condition of test lab by regularly performing lab equipment inventory, monitoring lab temperature, organizing cabling, and ensuring general cleanliness of work areas.

  • Perform daily operational verification of systems.

  • Configure wireless devices and troubleshoot wired/wireless LAN connectivity.

  • Configure and troubleshoot fuel system connectivity.

  • Perform system backups.

  • Update and document support processes as necessary.


Prerequisites -

  • Education: Associates Degree in Computer Science or five years relevant experience in a technical field.

  • Experience: Five year's experience with systems administration. Two years supporting the Retail Information System platform. Convenience store Information Technology support a plus, Fuel System configuration experience a plus.

  • Certifications, Licenses, etc: MSCE, A+, and Network certifications a plus.


Specialized Knowledge and Skills -

  • Mathematical Skills: Strong math and analytical skills.

  • Reasoning Skills: Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.               

  • Computer and/or Technical Skills: Windows Server Administration; scripting familiarity; Oracle Server; PC Hardware Repair; Systems building, backup, recovery; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment; and Network hardware configuration, installation and management (Ethernet Switches, Routers, and Wireless Access Points).


Work Environment and Physical Demands -

  • General Work Environment: General computer room environment.

  • Noise: Normal Computer room/lab sound level.

  • Standing/Lifting: Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.

  • Visual: 100% work with computer screens.

  • Stress: Relatively high stress position supporting multiple users in a lab environment.

  • Travel: Minimal.

Supervisory Responsibility, if any: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
