The Trade Compliance Manager will collaborate with Corporate Operations, legal, compliance and business colleagues to develop, implement, and maintain NEC’s Trade Compliance Program.

The successful candidate should possess a strong intellect, agility and sound judgement. The Trade Compliance Manager is accountable for promoting compliant import and exports processes, including adherence to all applicable U.S. and non-U.S. laws, regulations, and NEC policies.

 

• Responsibilities include implementing written policies and procedures, leading effective training programs, and conducting internal monitoring and auditing.  

  • Manage all aspects of daily import and export processes, documentation, recordkeeping, and due diligence.
  • Ensure compliance for import and export transactions.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of company-wide materials on trade/logistics policies and procedures as well as regulatory compliance.
  • Acts as internal consultant with all business units for import and export compliance matters.
  • Provides technical expertise in global customs laws and regulations such as harmonized tariff schedules, customs valuations, and customs assists.
  • Develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures to ensure all business units are compliant with all applicable international, federal, state and local laws, regulations, and standards related to global trade including EAR, ITAR, and OFAC regulations.
  • Monitors and assists with interpreting applicable regulations and implements changes to the import/export process to meet new requirements.

• Performs risk assessment and identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability; develops/implements corrective action plans as needed.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.

• 5+ years of overall experience in international trade and logistics.

  • Strong working knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements, US Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), and Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC).
