Summary -

Provides application training for customers and employees.  Creates and updates course materials, curriculums, and sample test data.  Reviews and tests AFIS software applications for compliance with customer functionality requirements, and latent print analysis and examination within NEC.   Plays a key role in liaising with customers and NEC staff regarding latent and tenprint problems and questions. 

 

Requires specialized depth of knowledge and experience in tenprint and latent print processing and comparison.  Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.  Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices.  Utilizes experience in biometric analysis to advise and work with product management teams.  Remains current on National biometric standards and participates in federal working groups advising on biometric technology use.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

40%  Conducts training for NEC staff and customers; including webinars

 

35%  Supports Development and Engineering in the development of new AFIS software applications.  Performs system integration testing on new and revised software applications.  Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods.

 

5%  Assists customers in troubleshooting any tenprint or latent operational problems – including the diagnosis of latent hits and minutiae analysis.

 

10%  Supports sales and marketing efforts; including Benchmark testing, Acceptance Testing, System Acceptance Testing and Equipment demonstrations

 

10%  Compiles user documentation and training materials for all AFIS applications

 

Prerequisites -

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or an equivalent field.

Experience:

Eight or more years experience in tenprint and latent print processing and comparison.

Experience in latent print examination must have been gained at local and federal agencies.

Field experience in the collection and processing of evidence for latent fingerprint analysis.

Certifications, Licenses, etc:

International Association of Identification (IAI) Certified Latent Examiner required.

Teaching Credentials from an accredited university preferred.

US Government Top Secret security clearance or higher preferred.

     

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills -

Language Skills:

Excellent communicative skills both oral and written, and excellent presentation skills.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic calculations and computations necessary used in the coring and ranking of biometric matches.

Reasoning Skills:

Logical deductions and inferences required to troubleshoot and resolve fingerprint comparison technical issues, and to learn new products and applications.

Computer and/or Technical Skills:

Experience in latent fingerprint analysis & comparison required.

Working experience in the development of latent fingerprints using traditional powders as well as ninhydrin, cyanoacrylate, and other chemical methods required.

Knowledge of NEC AFIS products preferred.

Experience in tenprint fingerprint classification and comparison preferred.

Stress:

Moderate stress levels; shifting priorities and the ability to quickly react to meet deadlines are necessary.

Travel:

Periods of frequent travel (50%) are required.  This travel consists of visits to new customer installations to conduct training classes, as well as attending trade shows & seminars.
